Jack in the Box 是美國快餐連鎖店的第五大，由羅伯特·奧斯卡·彼得森在1951年成立。現時集團共有2,200多分店，分佈於美國東西兩岸的大城市，也曾於香港（1991~2000）及新加坡（1980年代）開過海外分店。

Jack in the Box 早期是麥當勞的主要競爭對手，到1980年代所走路線則改為，除了漢堡，還有諸如墨西哥卷餅、玉米餅，以及沙拉、三明治等等，其最大特式是：24小時都供應早餐。

阿積躲到箱內，原來是要「嚇人」。

嚇人箱（jack-in-the-box）又稱嚇人小丑盒、驚喜箱、盒子裡的傑克。

那是一個外表由帶曲柄的盒子組成的玩具。當曲柄轉動時，便會播放音樂，不久，蓋子會突然打開，彈出一個小丑。多數的孩子會在驚訝後大笑，小部分則可能嚇到呱呱大叫，不是很健康的玩具，如今已漸被淘汰。

嚇人箱歷史悠久，據說是在16世紀時由德國鐘匠製造的。最初跳出來的是小丑，其後則是甚麽都有：聖誕老人、長頸鹿、卡通人物、小貓、小狗……。

"Years ago, anthropologist Margaret Mead was asked by a student what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a culture. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhooks or clay pots or grinding stones.

But no. Mead said that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture was a femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom, if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal.

A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up the wound, has carried the person to safety and has tended the person through recovery. Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts, Mead said."

We are at our best when we serve others. Be civilized.
