一生的讀書計畫 Clifton Fadiman 1904-99
廖志峰 志文版1974-11 牯嶺街還有一，二家過去印象中的舊書攤，現在要找舊書，不是上網，就是到二手書店了。逛二手書店的樂趣就在於目的性不強，充滿隨機，而且時有不期而遇的驚喜。一週前逛一家二手書店，意外看到一本書和現在正掀起的經典閱讀論戰，若合符節，這本書昰四十多年前出版的《一生讀書計畫》，寫這本書的美國學者今天如果還活著，也是百歲人瑞了，但這本書在今天看起來仍帶給我驚喜。 這本舊書很有意思，它原是出版者志文出版社和長榮書局的老闆張清吉先生送給某位朋友，不知甚麼緣故流到了書店，我因此有機會看到這位影響至少四、五年級生無數的前輩，他的親筆簽名。其實，他的傳奇性奮鬥故事很適合搬上銀幕，一個學歷只有公學校畢業的三輪車伕，怎會開啟一個偉大的出版事業，提供無可取代的精神食糧？這本書的譯者也非等閒，是鼎鼎有名的台大歷史系教授李永熾，用的筆名是李映萩。 這本書所收錄的書單是驚人的，從古代，中世紀，到現代（書寫成於1955年間〉；文類從史詩，戲劇，小說，文藝隨筆，詩，到歷史傳記，總共選入100本。作者費迪曼教授說明他選書的理由，主要在提供背景的理解，他認為，不同的書需要不同的閱讀速度，有些 則值得重覆地閱讀。他還安慰讀者說不要急，反正一生的時間很長，多麼令人感到安慰的話。他說自己的目的不在教育，而重在實踐，意圖使讀者的腳步邁向書店或圖書館；如果途中遇到賣鹽酥雞的攤子，稍微停下腳步是無妨的，... 更多 »

「抽樣」是「科學」
高先生是台灣食品界的"良心" (有限定意義的說法)。他認為 「抽樣」是全屬「藝術」是偏見，建議他多讀戴明博士的書。 「抽樣」是「科學」，必須系統思考。 義美食品 「檢驗」是「科學」‧「抽樣」是「藝術」 「藝術」決定「科學」；弱勢最吃虧！ 『食品安全』只能靠檢驗嗎？ 誰心安？ 一、 隨著科學日新月異，檢驗技術不斷進步；「檢驗數據 精準度」已自ppm(百萬分之一)，提升到ppb(十億分之一)，更逐步提升至ppt (兆分之一)；非常精準，因此，「檢驗」是「科學」，無人可以否認！ 二、「要檢驗」必須要「先抽樣」；但是「抽樣」供檢驗，只要數百公克；因此，自數百公噸、甚至上千公噸的大儲存桶槽，如何抽取數百公克的「穀物‧油脂」樣品供檢驗，就成為「藝術」！自數十公斤的一箱「蔬菜‧水果」中，或自一甲農地中，抽樣供「農藥殘留」檢驗，也必然是一門「藝術」！ 直徑至少一、二十公尺以上、桶身也至少一、二十公尺以上的大桶槽，要自上層抽樣？ 自下層抽樣？ 自桶槽中心抽樣？自桶槽外圍抽樣？ 三、「科學檢驗證據」，大家無法懷疑；但是「抽樣藝術判斷」，則見仁見智！ 四、「法律規章」接受「科學檢驗證據」，卻無法規範「抽樣藝術判斷」；遺憾！ 五、「強者‧富者」玩得起「藝術」；「弱勢業者‧消費者‧農民」必然吃虧！ 高志明 敬筆 2016.04.05
