Percival Goodman, who became an architect of some renown,[34] later released The Double E (1977) as a sequel to Communitas, following his brother's death.[15]




The Double E is a 1977 book by Percival Goodman about utopian planning that accounts for economy and ecology in a time of scarcity.

The Double E ; Annotation. Eutopia intended to revisited some of the issues raised in 1947 Goodman and Goodman. Double E refers to environment and economy.







For all Mr. Goodman devoted himself to encouraging visionary planning, he showed himself in ''Communitas'' to be an irreverent critic of most of the utopian plans the 20th century has produced so far. He denounced Ebenezer Howard's garden cities by saying, ''Rather than live in a garden city, an intellectual would rather meet a bear in the woods.'' He said of Le Corbusier's plans for the Ville Radieuse, a city of modernist slabs standing amid highways and open space, ''The great machine of the Ville Radieuse, for all its constructivist beauty, is not a city at all.'' On Robert Moses And in language that suggests the criticism that was to be made of Robert Moses years later, he attacked Moses's plans for New York in the sharpest language of all, saying of Moses's elaborate system of parkways, ''Imagine if this expenditure had been more equitably divided to improve the center and make livable neighborhoods.''

文化代幣？
有一名建築師，自年少時代便對理想國的傳說滿懷憧憬：柏拉圖的共和國、培根的新大西島、康帕內拉的太陽城、摩爾的烏托邦和莫里斯的烏有鄉⋯⋯

這些在地圖上還找不到的國家，他用小說的方式，將自己化作書中主角，融合他的建築知識，親自研討，將居民的生活方式、服裝、建築測繪出來，《#看見理想國》就是他的成果。
​
這本私家典藏絕版書籍多年後再現，《#看見理想國》由台灣首位以建築師身份獲得國家文藝獎的女性、也是台灣女建築家學會（WAT）發起人之一的建築師 #王秋華（ 1925-2021）所翻譯。
​
她與普西沃・古德曼 Percival Goodman（1904-1989）亦師亦友，曾合作多年，共同完成了五十多座猶太教堂、市立小學、社區中心⋯⋯等作品，在古德曼退休後王秋華鼓勵他將年少時代的理想——哲學史上的「理想國」完成，還翻譯引入台灣。王秋華也是推動台灣建設現代大學圖書館的先驅，有「#台灣圖書館之母」之美譽。

本次講座將由台灣女建築家學會成員 #林宛蓁 與 #許麗玉 介紹 建築師王秋華的生平和古德曼先生的著作，也分享講者們閱讀建築的視野。

建築師古德曼，美國當代建築史上最富創造力和傳奇性的猶太教堂建築大師。年少時即對西方歷代理想國的傳說滿懷憧憬，在哥倫比亞大學任職期間又以此為題開設講壇。雖然本書中所描寫的理想國度在世界地圖上根本找不到，但他還是決定去實地探訪。在那里，他以人類學的眼光去研討當地居民的生活方式，又任何建築學的專業素養測繪出當地的民俗形態與建築風貌。本書是他一系列游歷、觀察、記錄和描繪的成果，在其去世後，由其好友、著名建築師王秋華譯成中文版首度面世，堪稱一本絕世奇書。

One of the country’s most culturally significant traditions is also observed nearly every place where Swedish communities exist.
