“What is the meaning of life? That was all- a simple question; one that tended to close in on one with years, the great revelation had never come. The great revelation perhaps never did come. Instead, there were little daily miracles, illuminations, matches struck unexpectedly in the dark; here was one.” ― from TO THE LIGHTHOUSE By Virginia Woolf, 1927

Stained-glass ceiling of Palau de la Música Catalana, Barcelona.
The concert hall of the Palau, which seats about 2,200 people, is the only auditorium in Europe that is illuminated during daylight hours entirely by natural light. The walls on two sides consist primarily of stained-glass panes set in magnificent arches, and overhead is an enormous inverted dome of stained glass, designed by Antoni Rigalt, whose centerpiece depicts an inverted dome that has a three-dimensional sun in the blue sky.
Built between 1905–1908.
