Only in Japan: Tokyo Toilet Tours were a huge hit last summer to the point I could never schedule one as they were always fully booked. THE TOKYO TOILET is a project where 16 world-class creators redesigned 17 public toilets in Shibuya, transforming them into restrooms that everyone can use, raising the level of cleanliness and the image of toilets in the public eye. The tours were so popular they were suspended by the government because sightseers were making it difficult for locals wishing to use the facilities. While the specifications of each toilet vary, wheelchair access is possible at all locations and all toilets are equipped with Washlet, with some capable of audio commands in Japanese and English. Others feature dramatic lighting, rooms with a view, one way glass, and privacy screens with the push of a button. I decided to see for myself what the buzz was all about. Here are a few of my favorites. #tokyotoilet #tokyotoilets #tokyotoiletproject #architecture #tokyoarchitecture
