#OnThisDay 265 years ago, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born! Pretty much everyone is familiar with this famous portrait of the musical child prodigy. But did you know that it was painted more than two decades after his death? Austrian artist Barbara Krafft painted it in 1819 as a commissioned piece. She used a family portrait as her primary reference, which shows a young Mozart at 22 years of age with his sister Maria Anna and their father Leopold. Today, Krafft's Mozart portrait is one of the most reproduced images of the famous musical genius.
