This powerful graphic composition by Katsushika #Hokusai captures an episode from the heroic but tragic life of the 12th-century general Minamoto no Yoshitsune.
According to literary accounts, Yoshitsune stopped to wash his favorite horse beneath a waterfall while fleeing from his older brother Yoritomo, who considered him a traitor for joining forces with Emperor Go-Shirakawa.
