Charmion von Wiegand (1896–1983) was an American journalist, abstract painter, writer, collector, benefactor and art critic. She was the daughter of Inez Royce, an artist, and Karl Henry von Wiegand. Karl Henry von Wiegand was the German-born journalist known for wartime reporting.[2]

Miss von Wiegand met Mondrian in 1941, soon after his arrival in the United States, and began editing and translating his writings. The association inspired Miss Wiegand, who was then painting landscapes, to turn to abstract art, and Mondrian's flat planes and geometric shapes influenced even her later paintings. In the 1950's, other influences were Kurt Schwitters's found-object collages and Oriental themes. She later explored Egyptian, Indian and, especially, Tibetan culture.
