你指出之處我已沒印象，但既然是出自「研究著作評介」，便必然是我之誤。因兩冊的「研究著作評介」皆是我弄（這種打雜工夫森堯兄不會屑為之）。會有此誤想必是心不在焉加上偷懶沒求證。
順道一說，
因為編輯的疏失，上冊的biblographical essay漏了一大截。
順道二說，
Peter Gay讀過的書一卡車，又喜歡寫biblographical essay，結果每篇都落落長。到《現代主義》我終於受不了，乾脆一個字都不譯，原文照登。
順道三說，
後來看到汪祖榮把biblographical essay翻譯為「要籍題解」。
這個順道很有意思。再去翻翻《現代主義》(佳作，
翻《現代主義》，讀馬奎思《百年孤寂》，Gay 這別指出書中的"孤獨"部分；王爾德不可及處：大學在宿舍用的瓷器就特別精緻；每次理法都給指示書。Gay先生對精神分析有研究，所以給王爾德一審之後，為何不逃亡國外的分析。Gay 說的，Wikipedia引專家說：不然：A popular misconception holds that the central character of Bunthorne, a "Fleshly Poet," was intended to satirise Oscar Wilde, but this identification is retrospective.[10]

哇，哇，哇！是Norman Foster啊！去年在倫敦，看了他設計的小黃瓜大樓，還有大英博物館的中庭，著迷！
邁阿密展覽最後一日，攤位剛開張就來了一對老夫婦，興味盎然的看著我們的產品。一開始還沒怎麼在意，仔細一看，這位先生好像有點眼熟，再瞥一眼，他不是傳說中的 Sir Norman Foster 嗎！？！
大師氣場強大，有點緊張的跟他介紹，他很喜歡我們的文具系列，特別是膠帶台，把玩了很久。然後他太太很仔細的問了價錢貨運等訂購細節，說是要放在她開的書店和 foundation 展售。大師看完報價後緩緩開口了：「設計很好，東西不貴。」
在旁邊整個狀況外的 Li-Nung Chen 人走了以後才問我：「他誰啊？」

Tell us about one of your most memorable classroom experiences.
One of my most memorable classroom experiences happened about three weeks into class when we were talking about regression. I put up a slide with some data and said, “Now this point right here, is this an outlier or an influential point?” And one student goes, “Argh, it’s an outlier, captain!” I said, “Argh, you’re right, matey!” It turned out it was Sept. 19, National Talk Like a Pirate Day. It was one of the best times we ever had. One of the things I’ve learned is that there is nothing like a bit of humor to get people’s attention back and to engage them in the subject again. So I was ever grateful to that student, because it became a running joke for the rest of the semester. Argh!

When Ravel and Debussy went to the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris, they came across gamelan music and the dance of Java. They absorbed it, and used the combination. It’s music that's borne out of absorbing new ideas and cultures, and now, to our ears, it sounds quintessentially French.
