中國國家主席習近平與美國總統特朗普1日（週六）在阿根廷出席二十國集團峰會後共晉晚餐，舉行會晤，會面了約兩個半小時。
會後，白宮表示，中國同意購買“非常大量”的農業、能源及工業產品等，減少貿易不平等，中美雙方會嘗試在未來90日內就多項貿易問題達成協議，特朗普同意不會在1月1日把關稅提高至25%。現正被徵關稅的產品會繼續維持10%的稅率。
白宮稱習近平對同意高通收購恩智浦半導體公司持開放態度，可以再向中方呈交收購協議。
中國官方媒體在會後亦公佈消息，指中美雙方同意明年不再額外加徵關稅，兩國將繼續展開貿易談判。
據新華社報導，習近平會晤開始時說，兩人自上次見面以來，世界形勢又出現了不少新變化。中美作為兩個大國，都有重要影響，在促進世界和平和繁榮方面共同肩負著重要責任，合作是雙方最好的選擇。
中國國務委員兼外交部長王毅當地時間12月1日說，習近平當天晚上應邀同特朗普在布宜諾斯艾利斯共進晚餐，舉行會晤，兩國元首在友好、坦誠的氣氛中進行了兩個半小時的深入交流，遠遠超出了預定的時間。這次會晤達成了重要共識，為今後一個時期的中美關係指明了方向。
今次是中美貿易戰以來，兩國領導人首度會面。
