Jean-Christophe (1904‒1912, is the novel in 10 volumes by Romain Rolland)

Ken

POSTING RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR OUR MEMBERS : PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU POST ANYTHING ON OUR GROUP PAGE!
Revised: October 12, 2017.
Welcome to The Golden Age of Illustration group!
We hope that you will enjoy the vast range of illustrative work by the established artists on this page!
TIMEFRAME
The Golden Age of Illustration occurred from the 1880s to the 1920s. To ensure we're not excluding great illustrators from the Victorian era, or the mid-20th century, we've extended the dates at both ends. We want to see excellent illustration done during this 150-year timeframe, 1830–1980.

There IS a difference between illustration and painting. If there is doubt in your mind about an image, please use this description as your guide when posting in this group—your post will be evaluated on this definition:
*Painting vs Illustration:
Illustrations are done for a commercial audience, a mass market, if you will. They are used to illustrate a story or product for a public audience. These public audience vehicles include: books, magazines, cards, posters, and advertising, for example.

A painting, on the other hand, is done not to sell or illustrate a product, but is done as a personal work by the artist, or as a commission for a single patron. It is not done for a public/mass/commercial market audience.
Illustrations and paintings are both art, but the audience is where the distinction lies. This group is devoted to illustrative art.
