《#鬼地方》英文版上了紐約時報書評，當時人在柏林，想收驚無處尋。行天宮柏林沒分店啊。

後來，越南文版在越南暢銷了，出現了好幾篇書評。波蘭文版出現了YouTuber特地拍了書的影片。日文版出現在週刊金曜日、Wedge、每日新聞、日本經濟新聞等。希臘文也有，但我實在是一個字都看不懂。
每次，我都很驚嚇。
今天九月一號，法國大報《世界報》Le Monde書評版面刊出幾乎整頁書評/介，繼續驚嚇。我在手機上看到報紙的頁面，正在愛荷華河邊散步，想著要瞎掰什麼新小說大綱給鏡文學編輯，看到Le Monde的報紙頁面，想說，哇，這好大版面喔，這個Kevin Chen是誰啊？白痴！是我啊！我真的忽然想滾入河中，但想起當地愛荷華人都告誡，此河有殺蟲劑污染，千萬別跳，就，沒滾，沒跳了。
驚嚇。我出身永靖農家。來自小地方。永靖人來到Le Monde，我心裡是真的覺得，果然鬼月，人間鬧鬼，這是一場鬼夢吧。真的，鄉下人胸無大志，就只是跑跑跑，想跑到很遠的地方，誰知道會跑到日本每日新聞，跑到紐約時報，跑到Le Monde。
青春歲月，我憎恨自己，因為我是gay。中年之後一天到晚忙著對人出櫃，來到愛荷華，先對著所有作家出櫃，大說我是gay啦！（但新加坡菲律賓裔美籍作家Noelle大喊：你不用喊，什麼都不用說！我們不是笨蛋，我們知道！）在Christopher Merrill教授的課堂上說書，我也是對著全班大出櫃。
以前我花好多時間隱藏自己，討厭自己。現在中年啦，我不要了，我不要討厭自己了。好累。我感謝自己的身體，感激自己是gay。我就是帶著這樣坦然的心，寫鬼地方。對，我的queerness，就是我的superpower。
或許。因為我這樣坦然。各國的書評，都讀到了。
快速說一下，法文版出版的流程。
光磊那邊賣版權，Seuil取得版權，決定今年八月出版。我六月抵達巴黎，參加出版社的Rentrée Littéraire 2023發表會。在這個發表會上，出版社請來所有在八月發行的作家上台說書，十五分鐘為限。我最後一個上場。登台前，我的編輯對我說：Kevin, make them laugh!於是我火力全開。發表會辦完，大家去度假。兩個月的時間，書商，書店，書評，可以在度假時光閱讀出版社先給他們的書。我們只能盼望，他們八月度假回來，會寫書評，把書擺在書店好的位置。
鬼地方法文版出版了。雜誌書評，網路書評，開始冒出來。今天是Le Monde。

Kevin Chen (Tran Tu Hoanh)
Born in 1976 at Bat Duc alley, Vinh Tinh commune, Chuong Hoa district, Taiwan. The ninth child in a farming family.
Graduated from the English Department of Phu Nhan Catholic University, National Taiwan University Theater Institute, won first place in the short story Lam Vinh Tam literary prize, novel of the year, and the 44th Golden Ding Award.
A writer, sometimes also an actor, translator, currently residing in Berlin, Germany.
The Land of the Dead is the opening novel of Kevin Chen's "Summer trilogy", which in 2020 was honored to win two prestigious Taiwanese literary awards including the Golden Dian Prize (under the National Institute of Literature). Gia) and the Kim Dinh Prize (under the Ministry of Culture).
