The montage is trying hard to be objective about these conflicts and their relationship to what happened at the time the opera is set. It seems to be more sensitive to discuss what’s happening now than what happened in Mao’s time.

She shied away from adopting any publicity-inspiring projects like Jacqueline Kennedy's historical redecoration of the White House. Instead, she seemed to enjoy a more traditional and limited role in the White House, as Bess Truman and Mamie Eisenhower had.

楊牧（1940年9月6日－），本名王靖獻，台灣花蓮縣人，台灣著名詩人及散文作家。早期的楊牧，深受浪漫主義詩人的影響，經過留美生活的洗禮，開始對社會進行關注。楊牧三十二歲以前的筆名為葉珊，三十二歲之後，更改筆名為楊牧，可以看作是純粹的浪漫情懷與兼含人文關懷的分水嶺。詩作曾被譯入英文、德文、法文、日文、瑞典文、荷蘭文。曾任麻塞諸塞大學及華盛頓大學助理教授、國立東華大學文學院院長、中央研究院中國文哲研究所特聘研究員兼所長。現任國立政治大學台灣文學研究所講座教授、國立東華大學榮譽教授。曾獲詩宗獎(1971)、吳三連文藝獎(1990)、國家文藝獎(2000)、紐曼華語文學獎(2013)等重要獎項。
