‘In Xanadu did Kubla Khan / A stately pleasure-dome decree…’
Samuel Taylor Coleridge describes his 1797 poem Kubla Khan as a ‘Reverie brought on by two grains of Opium’. Being awoken midway through the dream, he only managed to recollect a 54-line fragment.

Halfway through May!

This print celebrates one of the most cheerful springtime views – pink cherry blossoms under clear, sunny skies

It was created by Thomas Robert Way, who was known for capturing famous views around London at the turn of the 19th century.
This lithograph is one from a series of twelve which map the changing seasons at Kew Gardens
