Among her other honors is the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for contributions to children’s literature. Her other books include “Lotus Seeds,” a 1986 collection of essays and speeches about the art of the picture book.
In a speech reproduced in that collection, Ms. Brown wrote of her lifelong impulse to retell and illustrate traditional stories.
“The heritage of childhood is the sense of life bequeathed to it by the folk wisdom of the ages,” she said. “It is a privilege to pass these truths on to children who have a right to the fullest expression we can give them.”
《威廉·麥斯特的學徒歲月》（德語：Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre，英語：Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship），中文名又將舊作譯作：《威廉·邁斯特的戲劇使命》，是德國劇作家、詩人、神學家、自然科學家約翰·沃爾夫岡·馮·歌德（1749-1832）的著名作品。《學徒歲月》講述了主人公威廉麥斯特為了追求戲劇事業，離開家庭追求個人成長的故事。《威廉·麥斯特》不僅是歐洲文學史上的一部傑作，同時也被視作魏瑪古典主義文學和德國成長小說（Bildungsroman）的代表作品。《威廉·麥斯特》全書分為兩部分：《威廉·麥斯特的學徒歲月》（後文簡稱《學徒歲月》）和《威廉·麥斯特的漫遊歲月》。《學徒歲月》是全書的第一冊，總共分為8本（原出版順序為8冊書，勿與現代出版時將全書分為兩冊作品的做法混淆）。
The Wrong Move (German: Falsche Bewegung – "False Movement") is a 1975 German road movie directed by Wim Wenders. This was the second part of Wenders' "Road Movie trilogy" which included Alice in the Cities (1974) and Kings of the Road (1976).
With long carefully composed shots characteristic of Wenders' work, the story follows the wanderings of an aspiring young writer, Wilhelm Meister, as he explores his native country, encounters its people and starts defining his vocation. His thoughts are occasionally presented in voice-over. The work is a rough adaption of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's 1795-96 novel Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship,[1] an early example of the Bildungsroman[2] or novel of initiation.
隱地在二○一○年得到第三十四屆金鼎獎圖書類特別貢獻獎時的得獎感言：「我追求永恆，文學在我心目中，就像一座山，這種永世價值，讓我們不致迷失於紅塵滾滾的俗世，讓我們找得到回家的路。」
十年後的今天，雖然書店與讀者變少了，但依然堅守在崗位上的隱地，用書寫紀錄文壇的種種，把曾經有過的榮耀再次喚醒，與所有愛書人共享。
