“The idea of using and reusing and transforming is part of the history of this building,” she said. “Each renovation does modify what was before. So it would be kind of weird to freeze it in time.”
“We have to trust our art,” she added, “the same way every century before us trusted our artists.”
The interior architecture of the cathedral rises on three levels, illuminated by large stained glass windows. A double ambulatory is arranged around the nave. The Gothic style is characterized by its ribbed vaulting.

The Nave
Reserved for the faithful during services, the nave requires a vast space to accommodate a large number of worshippers. It determines the dimensions of the building. Raised from the ground to the vaults, it forms the central vessel of the building. The construction of the nave of Notre-Dame began in 1182 with four bays. After a pause to build the west facade in 1208, construction resumed in 1218. It consists of ten bays. A bay corresponds to the space between each pillar. The first two bays support the building up to the towers and also serve as a transition after passing through the portal. Pillars, arcades, pilasters, and columns accentuate the effect of verticality. These verticals are broken horizontally by arcades and capitals. This regular rhythm between verticals and horizontals gives the nave great harmony.

我蛇咗半年，蒲返頭出post，祝大家蛇年平安。農曆新年，有團聚有離散。至於散落在世界各地的香港人，還可以做什麼？2023年底受 光傳媒 Photon Media 主編梁嘉麗採訪時，曾談及我的看法。
摘要如下：
「第一，要脫胎換骨，要重新想一次，運動為何會失敗。很多人離開後要顧生計，向前望的多，但沒有回顧，不知道為何會失敗。當然，是有不可抗力，但也要找出內因啊！如果再做一次，是否還是會同樣的方式？要很徹底地想清楚」。
說到離散港人的角色，他侃侃而談，去年出版的《驚心集：後雨傘運動香港政治評論》亦有不少篇幅寫2019年社運後的各種思潮和策略，分析公民抗命和「流亡學」。流亡，一種迫不得已的狀態，當自身也是流亡的一員，對流亡群體的看法，則又更切身與深刻。
「意志要更強啊！必須臥薪嘗膽，出來捱要有強大意志才能做到，對象是一個很強大又殘酷的政權，我們用甚麼武器？就是自己的意志，要很自覺去克服自身的弱點，要在困難中創造條件，然後用這些條件去對抗」。

"When I started to look for a position after graduation, it was somewhat of a shock to me to have future employers immediately ask whether I had typing and shorthand skills. The presumption in those days was that the appropriate job for a woman was as a secretary or as a teacher in a grade school or high school. I began a correspondence course on shorthand, which I have never used to take dictation, but have found to be very useful when taking notes in face-to-face interviews on research projects.
Fortunately, after a year of working as an Export Clerk in a large clerical pool, I did obtain a position as Assistant Personnel Manager for a business firm that had never hired a woman in anything but a secretarial position. I think my experience of obtaining a very good job in my early twenties helped me later when I decided to think about attending graduate-level courses and eventually applying for a research assistantship and admission to a Ph.D. program. I learned not to take initial rejections as being permanent obstacles to moving ahead."
When Elinor Ostrom applied for a PhD in economics she was turned away. Undefeated, she went onto complete a doctorate in political sciences and in 2009 became the first woman to be awarded the prize in economic sciences.

味道的記憶很珍貴：周日郭博士兄弟兩家請我們夫婦到香港木球會(舊英國殖民地特色會所，快沒了！)用餐，我太太稱讚印度料理，我則跟老郭說，apple pie的味道，幾乎與1977~78University of Essex的餐廳的，一模一樣。
